I really enjoyed "copying" those outfit ideas last week, so I decided to take another stab at this again this week. Copying these pictures has really given me a lot of inspiration in putting my outfits together in the morning. I'm excited about figuring out which look I'll try to emulate each day!
Here are a few from this week:
This is a look from Eloquii, one of my fave new clothing lines. While I did change up the look a little bit from the original, I think it's still in the same spirit. I opted to NOT do a scarf because of the ruffle detail in the top I'm wearing.
Top: H&M
Skirt: Dillards
Shoes: Nine West via Marshalls
Belt: Rue 21

So, I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this look. In theory, it works. However, I feel like I'd be more comfortable if I hadn't tucked in the top. Usually, I don't tuck shirts in like this because well, it tends to draw attention to the fact that I'm "thick in the thighs". Heh. Where the good Lord hath giveth I do wish he'd taketh away...just about an inch or so. But I'm working on that. :) Also, I generally don't wear this much...lack of color, but I think it kind of works. At least in the replicating the inspiration photo.

And here's an outfit that I didn't use an inspiration photo for. Sure, the idea came into my head from seeing belted cardigans and ruffled tops but there wasn't a specific one I was attempting to replicate. I When I first put this on I thought it over-emphasized by hips...way too much. But in the photographs, I really liked the way it looks.
Ruffled Top: Mossimo for Target
Cardigan: Mossimo for Target
Jeans: Old Navy
Flats: Mossimo for Target
Belt: Wal-Mart
Linking up with Lindsey for What I Wore Wednesday.
All of those outfits look good!!! I love the 2nd one too!!! Even though I know you're paranoid about looking all one color, Neutral DOES look good on you!!!!

I like the third the best. And I'm normally not a fan of tucking in shirts, for the same reason as you, but I think this one looks more polished or pulled together this way.
ReplyDeleteThese all look nice. The first one is a lovely interpretation of the inspiration. The second outfit is nice. Maybe a colored belt just to make it more you? The third outfit is my fave. I think the ruffles actually draw your eye up thus slimming the hip/thigh area. I am drawn to ruffles and have to remind myself not to buy them (I'm too busty for ruffles across my chest). I do have several tops with ruffles on the shoulder or sleeve.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right about the ruffles. I just loved how cute it was!!
DeleteAh, I love your sense of fashion. I'm so lacking in that realm. But I love the idea of copying an outfit I'm drawn to. I may try it out myself! Also, I didn't know you had a blog! (I found it through Jill's.) It's gorgeous! Hope you're doing well. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Brandy! I'm doing okay and I hope you are too with your new baby! :)
DeleteI LOVE the second outfit! We always notice the part of us that we dislike most, but trust me ~ you don't have any "thick thighs" going on in that pic! :) It looks great. I see these "copy" outfits, I love it, you've inspired me to finally try it!
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm glad you enjoyed this post. Send me a link if you do copy some outfits...I'd love to see them!
DeleteI love all of the outfits, but the second is my fav. You are rocking the khakis.
ReplyDeleteThe last is my fav. However, I really love the khaki outfit too. Maybe a colorful scarf? Even in a print. It would pop off the neutral. I am also a pinterest inspired dresser. :-)
ReplyDeleteI HEART OUTFIT TWO! Hellooooo neutrals! : ) I'm surprised you didn't wear a statement necklace in bright mango or something. : )
ReplyDeleteI also love outfit three. I have tried to do that a time or two (belted cardi) but it just never looks right.
Next time you are in town I want you to come do for me what you did for Jill - mix and matching outfits, etc. : )
LOVES YOU.
Love the first outfit with the bright green skirt! :D
