OOTD: perpetrator

Hello friends.

'Tis Wednesday. Which means 'tis time for the weekly outfits post where I link up with What I Wore Wednesday over at The Pleated Poppy.

Today's post name was inspired by what were formerly consider fashion crimes...monochromatism (And, yes, I made that word up. I think. It SOUNDS good though doesn't it?) and mixing genres.

Yes, monochromatism, the wearing of all one color, previously considered a fashion crime, is now considered a fashion "do" by some. And mixing genres (exactly what it sounds like but with fashion instead of movies), was just mostly considered a fashion faux-pas by moi.

Until I started doing it.

Now, it's cool. You see kids, what's cool will ultimately become lame and then cool again. Monochromatism and mixing genres have only started to be cool now. Well, in my mind, at least.

So, as you'll see with the outfits below, I guess I'd be considered a perpetrator on both charges.

Oh, and apparently there was something very interesting on the floor to my left. Also the color difference in these is pretty astounding! They were taken one right after the other. Weird.

Anywho, crime #1 - monochromatism. Purple shirt, cardigan and shoes. Broken up only by the belt and pants...and my skin and hair of course. Which is not purple, obvi. Actually, my hair is purple when I use the beloved purple shampoo...but I digress.

Cardigan: Mossimo for Target (old)
Pants: NY & Co shop
Top: The Limited shop similar
Shoes: Mossimo for Target (old)
Belt: Target

Crime #2 is a simple genre mixing charge. I'm literally wearing a bathing suit cover up with a cardigan. That's mixing genres. Major.

Cardigan: Target shop similar
Dress: Target (old)
Shoes: Walmart (old)
Tank: Rue 21

You could wear outfit 1 to work and outfit 2 could be for play. The latter is a bit short for my taste, but it would work for an outdoor party or cookout.

What fashion "crimes" have you committed lately?

  1. Cute blog! Found you through WIWW. Love both outfits. You look adorable!

  2. I committed a fashion "crime" last Thursday. That is, I wore something I never would have worn six months ago. I paired my asemmetrical coral skirt with a kelly green tank top - and I loved it! I kept my accessories really neutral so it wasn't too over the top. Both of my kids complimented me on my outfit and no one at the grocery store looked at me like I was crazy :)
I love your hair like that!

  3. stopping by from wiww... super cute blog... and i love your outfits! especially that dress, the color is fab!

Comments make me SO happy! Go ahead...make my day. ;)
