OOTD: yellowy

Hello bloggy friends.

I'm sticking with the Color Week theme for today's outfit posts. So, I'm featuring the color YELLOW in my outfits.

The only [slight] problem is that I don't really own a lot of yellow.

See, my hair is yellow. I've always had a problem when the color I'm wearing matches my hair. This is also why I had a hard time wearing red when I was a redhead. You get my logic, right? Sigh.

However, I did manage to round up a little bit of yellow for today's outfits.

Confession: I've actually never worn this banana yellow tank until this outfit. I had a hard time figuring out how to wear it. I figured silver/gray would do the trick.

Tank: Old Navy shop similar
Cardigan: Target shop
Flats: Target shop
Belt: Target
Jeans: Levis

This outfit is a little more casual. However, I really enjoyed wearing it. This shade of yellow is even closer to my hair color than the other. I feel like I couldn't wear this color without the white cardigan barrier between my hair and tank.

Jeans: Old Navy shop
Tank: Old Navy
Cardigan: Eddie Bauer
Flats: Target shop
Necklace: Sand Dollar (local)

What are your thoughts on yellow? I actually love yellow on dark haired ladies but am not sure if blondes can pull it off. Sorry this color post seems like a bit of a let down. It was between a yellow-themed outfit post and a post on yellow foods. Heh.

  1. I'm a brunette and I find that pale yellow is difficult for me to wear. I think it's a skin tone thing (I am pale with a lot of pink undertones). I do what you did and put a "barrier" between the yellow and my face. Even better, if there is a color I like but that isn't the most flattering with my skin/hair, I wear it on the bottom. Same thing with brown. If I wear it too close to my hair I just look too monochromatic.
I love the bright yellow with the silver/gray! That is one of my favorite color combos.

    2. I've been playing along with color week at home by dressing E in the color of the day. The weather even cooperated today by being cold so she could wear her one and only yellow top which has long sleeves :)

  4. I have always been a big fan of yellow. It's such a beautiful color on you. That tank in the first outfit is stunning. I love that yellow adds a happy vibe to just about any outfit, at least in my opinion. It's a great color for spring and summer. Thanks so much for sharing!

  6. I LOVE yellow and I wear it a lot. I am a brunette but I think that you can pull off both shades of yellow. I really like the turquiose with the pale yellow. I did notice that LOFT had a ton of yellow in their spring line. Can't wait to get a coupon so I can rack up :)
