Insta-Outfits v. 8

Unintentionally, in all three of my outfit pictures I'm wearing mustard yellow. It's my new favorite color to wear...I think because I feel like it makes me look tanner? Or it makes my hair look blonder? I'm not sure exactly why. It could be because being blonde I've ALWAYS shied away from wearing yellow simply because my hair is yellow. But this shade of yellow is just doing everything for me and I have no plans to stop.

Shortly after I wore this I discovered a third hole in this cardigan that was a former hole I'd sewn shut. I decided it was time to retire this beloved member of my cardigan family. I've had it for more than 5 years and for a Target cardigan that's a LONG time.

This top was my first venture into mustard yellow in a non-cardigan form. I really liked this top that I got from Amazon and it works well for the office!

This is the latest edition of mustard to grace my closet. I swiped this cardigan from Amazon as well. Also, I just realized (as I'm typing this) that I paired mustard with leopard print. Weird how you don't notice those things right away!

Insta-Outfits v.7

It's time for another round up of Instagram outfits. The title is a bit misleading though because two of these outfits didn't make it to Instagram for whatever reason. So you get genuine NEW material here on TSF. :) I gives the peoples what zey wants.

And now for another short edition of Insta-Outfits! These are the outfits I've posted on Instagram lately. Follow me on Instagram if you want to see them (and more weird stuff too).

We had some cooler temps in the area so I decided to rock my plaid flannel shirt once more before it gets hot. To soften the blow of the flannel in April, I paired with a pastel cardigan and bright necklace. 

I posted that this is one of those tops I never wear because I have a hard time styling it. I bought this top to pair with other prints since it is neutral colors but I struggle with it. So I decided to pair with my tried and true combo of a bright cardigan and a statement necklace. 

I hate this (blue) dress. It's so weird fitting. Hence, why y'all only got a chest-up shot. But I did love my colors this day. I think that makes up for the weird dress. 

In stark contrast, I went from an ill-fitting, weird dress to two of my favorite dresses. Interestingly enough the ill-fitting one and this pink striped one are both from Old Navy. Go figure. Anywho, I'm obsessed with this pink and white striped one and would wear it more often but I always seem to get a stain on it when i wear it. This is why I have a hard time wearing white. Sigh....

Yesterday's piece de resistance was my Easter dress. I saw this puppy online and loved it so much I bought it right away, having no idea how it might fit. I totally love it an want to wear it every day now. It has a cinched/elastic waist, 3/4 sleeves and comes down to my knees. Literally, it's perfection. It's not actually low in the neckline, but the angle I was holding the camera made the picture look a little...boobalicious. So I spared y'all and my Insta audience from the details. :)

Instagram outfit posts are my new jam. Insta-Outfits v.4

It's been a hot minute since I've posted some of my Instagram outfit photos on the blog. For those of you that already follow me on Instagram (thestripedflamingo) I do apologize for the duplicate content. For the rest of you, here are a few of my Insta-outfits of late...

Yes, my gravitation towards stripes, navy and mustard is very apparent. But I do applaud myself that all of these outfits contain a print. I used to be very print-phobic but now I've expanded beyond stripes to incorporate polka dots and even geometric patterns! Go me! HA! 

Insta-Outfits v.3

Here are the latest and greatest outfit posts from my Instagram page [thestripedflamingo]. Someday I'll get back to doing it with an actual camera...this is just so much easier. Sigh...

I'm obsessed with this vest. I wear it all the time. How I wish I'd bought it in more colors!

I was loving the jewel tones for this day and how even my nail polish matched my scarf!

This was my Valentine's Day (or the Friday before) look. I ended up sort of matching the carpet. Weird!

I have no idea why this blue looks so crazy vibrant in the necklace...it's like a cobalty blue. I was totally loving this color combination though.

Some of my absolute favorite colors together. I'm not normally a huge patterned cardigan person but I happened to wear 2 in one week. How crazy is that?!

OOTD: Furry Vest

I just don't know about this fur vest. I love the look of it layered in various pins on Pinterest, but have yet to be able to pull it off. I snagged this vest on sale at Target a month or so ago and have worn it only once. I think next time I wear it, I might try with a plain black tee underneath and a little dressier look overall. Maybe a pencil skirt and tights? IDK. I also think the vest might be a little long. Thoughts?

Finally, when I wore this I had a psuedo allergic reaction/allergy flare up and was sneezy and stuff. Am I allergic to this vest? I'm a little scared to find out.

Also, I fully realize that I do not have the type of body that can pull off a vest. However, I think they are super-cute and, let's be honest, I've already found a man so, now I can just not care. Okay?

OOTD: Snow Day

I've been snowed in now since Tuesday. I had the great opportunity to sled today. I took some outfit shots on Tuesday and I hiked a local greenway that was covered in snow yesterday. Oh, and I worked too. Duh. :)

I secretly kind of love being snowed in. Don't tell everyone. I just love being forced to stay in and relax. Chill. Eat. Do some things I need to do. I know most people are complaining at being stuck indoors and all of that, but I love it. Now, I do have power and I stocked up on some snowssentials before the storm hit.

We've had between 6-7 inches here since Tuesday. We probably won't be able to dig and venture out until the weekend. Maybe... :)

OOTD: Mr. Fancy Pants

I got this cardigan for Christmas from the future-in-laws. This cardi is from Talbots. So fancy! Most of my cardigans are from Target and Old Navy so one from Talbots is quite a fancy cardigan with regards to the rest of my wardrobe. I am obsessed with the color and the chevron-y basket weave texture on the front. It's different from anything else I have and I love it!

I've already paired this with a black cami and black pants for work and with jeans for a casual look. The shape of this cardigan is perfect and I love the 3/4 sleeves. Honestly, I should probably buy more of these because I love this one so much.

So, whenever I stage these little photo ops, I usually end up with 1 or 2 passable/usable photos for every 10-12 I shoot. The below is an example of one that didn't make the cut. I thought it was funny and that y'all would enjoy a little "behind the scenes" look. Right as the picture was about to snap (self-timer) my necklace broke and I caught it while the camera snapped.

Sad face.

Luckily, I was able to fix it.

Happy face.

That's why I have two different necklaces on in the photos above. One was pre-necklace break and one was post-break.

Lucky for me I'm good with super glue. :)

OOTD: Shiny & Sparkly

Since buying this top a day or so before Christmas I've worn it quite a few times. (Christmas Eve, church, etc.) I wouldn't normally have picked this top because of the shape, but once I put it on I really liked it. Plus, I'm a sucker for 3/4 sleeves on anything. The sequined polka dots add just enough sparkle to push this top from basic to fancy. :)

My statement necklace was purchased for $6 on clearance at NY&CO and I'm obsessed with how shiny it is! I love wearing it with my sparkly top. It's not too much (in my opinion) but just enough pretty...don't you think?

As a side note, I've really been wearing a lot of black lately...way more than usual. I used to not wear it very much at all, but now I like it. Maybe because I'm on the cusp of turning 29 or maybe because I love it's magical confidence-boosting powers. Or maybe all of the above...

I know, I know, it's been a LOOONNNNGGGG time since I've done an outfit post. And quite frankly, I've missed it. I took advantage of a day of PTO I had over the Christmas holiday and got a couple done in one day, so, we're covered for a few weeks at least. ;)

Insta-Outfits v.1

Hello there,

Just popping in to briefly and shamelessly plug myself. :)

Because I don't always have time (or let's face it, the energy) to haul out the tripod, take pictures, upload to my computer and edit them, I often resort to posting outfits on Instagram.

Those outfits don't necessarily get a blog post here on TSF.

So, it logically follows that you might be missing out on some outfit posts if you don't ever check out my Instagram page.

OOTD: Pleather Peplum

I posted about my newfound love for peplum recently and I'm proud to say that I've incorporated a new peplum piece into my wardrobe. It's another peplum top but it's black with a pleatherish peplum. The best part? It was only $16. Holla!

So, as a "curvy" lady, I wondered if wearing peplum would just make me look bigger because it would emphasize my hips...the widest part of my body. However, I think this sort of works. It over-emphasizes something so it kind of makes the rest look, um, proportionate? Maybe that's just wishful thinking. But I do think the peplum sort of gives me curves in a good way. Whoa...that's a lot body-positive talk there, people. I don't know if I can take it. :) 

So, would you ever try peplum?
