Happy Friday! It's raining and cold here. That kind of weather is for the birds...and Seattle. So, I'm over the weather but I plan on cheering up with a delicious steaming mug of Peaches & Cream Oatmeal. Yum.

//1. I confess that I feel incredibly guilty about buying anything for me at the moment and I suspect I'll feel like that until the wedding. I just think I shouldn't be buying XX since I could use that money for XX (wedding thing).

//2. I confess that I downloaded and proceeded to play for about 30 min straight Disney's Nemo's Reef game on my phone.

//3. I confess that in a fit of irritation and annoyance I deleted my My Little Pony game on my phone and thus had to search for a replacement game.

//4. I confess that I've started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix and...I just...I have no words for it. It's awkward and weird and a little crass but hilarious! Like, I don't want to like it but the storyline is really funny and the main character is awesome!

//5. I confess that I'll be rooting for my hometown NFL team this weekend as they play their first playoff game in 8 years. I'm so excited for them! I guess this isn't really a confession...but I wanted to have an odd-numbered list. So...yeah.

Confessional Friday

Yay! I'm so happy it's Friday!

It's been exceedingly hard to get motivated this week and I know it's because I had a day off in the middle of the week. So, it was like I had two Mondays in one week! (And 2 Friday's, but I would never complain about that!!)

I'm also really happy that Mrs. Leslie brought back her Confessional Friday link-up. Why? Because confessions are the cheapest form of therapy around!

//1. I confess that I'm beyond excited to say that there are only 99 days left until my wedding! WHOO HOO! I'm giddy like a little school girl.

//2. I also confess that the idea of 99 days until my wedding does make my anxiety bubble up a bit. There is so much left to do!!

//3. I confess that I don't know how I'm going to work a whole week next week. For the last few, I've had time off, so the thought of working 5 days in a row?!?! Tragic...

//4. I confess that I used some Christmas gift cards to buy some things for my wedding reception and to buy a couple of gifts for people. But, to be fair, I bought Christmas stuff in the after Christmas sale and just gave it to them because I knew they'd like it and I told them I'd picked it up on clearance. It's not like a wrapped it up and tried to pass it off as a real gift. Is that bad??

//5. I confess that I have a wedding countdown app on my phone. Is that too much? Is it pathetic? I like having the countdown and you can add your photo and names and stuff. #iknowiamridiculous

//6. I confess that I typed "I foncess" every.single.time. I tried to type "I confess" in this blog post. Blame the early morning blogging...

//7. I confess that I'm going through Christmas sugary/sweet DTs and it ain't pretty. Yesterday, I contemplated eating some of the chocolate that's been on my coworkers desk for at least a year. What is WRONG with me??

Dang, it's finally Friday. This has been a LOOONNNNGGGG week, has it not?

1. I confess that I am obsessed with infographics. I don't know why information is so much cooler when put into a cool illustration, but to me that is a WAY more awesome method of delivering information.



How about an infographic on the guide to Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors? You're welcome.

2. I confess that I still don't know which fantasy quarterback to play this week. When I go through my normal "predicament settling equations" I usually come out with a clear winner but not so much this week. Except in the looks equation. Tony Romo is a lot more attractive than Matt Schaub...but then...I dislike Dallas. So...I'm back to where I started. Sigh.

3. I confess that when I got a $25 gift card to Target this week, I giggled like a little school girl and prompty scoured their website for at least an hour, looking for deals. I've got to make good on this windfall. :D

4. I confess that it made my little heart happy when eShakti tweeted one of my outfit photos!

5. I confess that I ate a lot (read 3) Lean Cuisine chicken alfredo meals for lunches this week. I guess that's not really a confession. But the fact that I instagrammed my meal and tagged @LeanCuisine to see if I could get a response and maybe some coupons, certainly is. #shameface #yesIusedahashtaginablogpost

6. I confess that I ALMOST (read....not exactly but came very close to) crying when I realized my local (favorite) grocery store was closing. Now there will just be an empty black shell of sadness on the corner.

7. Finally, I confess that I think something is wrong with the calculator thingamajig on my C25k app because yesterday it said I ran a 1:09 minute mile. Um??? Yeah. I don't think that could happen if I was running on top of a speeding car. But I don't want it to get better and be fixed. I like living in the belief that I'm an incredibly fast runner and I'm the next undiscovered female Usain Bolt. Or whatever his name is.

Confessional Friday: TV Show Indulgences

 

I have a really bad habit of becoming addicted to trashy/silly/ridiculous tv shows. I can't avoid them...I'm like a moth to a flame.

 

With that there are a few shows that I will always watch if they are on re-run. These are the shows that probably make people cringe, grimace or...sigh.

 

Anywho, here are some of my favorite trashy/silly/ridiculous television shows.

 

True Blood

 

 

 

I just recently got into this show and am only in season 3, but already the plot is getting ridiculous. But I can't stop watching it. Plus, Eric is kinda hot. :)

 

Say Yes to the Dress

 

 

 

Watching bridal meltdowns on prime time is one of the funniest things ever. That, or the fact that once a bride tells them her budget they always put her in a dress that's over her budget and then she cries and pitches a fit because she can't get it. Pretty soon either she caves in or her mom/dad does and she smiles through her tears not realizing that her mom and dad will probably eat ramen for a month to pay for it. Sigh.

 

Real Housewives

 

 

 

In Atlanta or New Jersey, there is a lot of rowdy behavior and though I can't decide which I like more...they both have just enough staged drama to make it interesting. :) I mean, I think I'm probably a little more afraid of the NJ ladies simply because they seem like they would cut you. Am I right?

Dance Moms

Just sit back and let the mothers-living-vicariously-through-their-surprisingly-normal-but-highly-talented-daughters drama unfold.

Confessional Friday: Q&A Edition

1. My worst fashion offense of all time has to be my hair from 1991-1998.

 

Let's just zoom in on that for a minute.

Yep. What was I thinking?! Also, I kind of look like the rabbit from Monty Python here. :)

2. The most embarrassing song on my iPod is probably Gonna Make You Sweat by C+C Music Factory. Oh, and maybe Adagio by Lara Fabian.

3. The last white lie I told was that I liked someone's toe nail polish color.

4. The celebrity I most wish would disappear is Justin Bieber. Honorable mention goes to Kimye and, on most days, Taylor Swift.

5. Sometimes I wish I could just live on a farm with goats, miniature donkeys, a miniature cow and lots of land to plant flowers and vegetables. I don't think I could "live off the land" (because mama loves certain processed foods way too much) but I could try. Wishful thinking. :)

6. My childhood crush was Kevin Richardson and there might have been a brief crush on Andrew Keegan.

7. I've never turned down chocolate.

8. Action or war movies makes me a nervous wreck. Also children and confrontation.

9. I'd rather watch paint dry than watch MMA, UFC or boxing.

10. Much like a train wreck, I can't turn away from watching Dance Moms, Real Housewives of New Jersey or Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

Confessional Friday: Pet Peeves

Happy Friday, poopsies! (Pretend I'm Ursula and you're Flotsam and Jetsam, okay? In that context, is how I used "poopsies". End weird nerdy intro statement.)

Today's Confessional Friday theme is one that's near and dear to my heart...

Pet Peeves.

Oh yes, it's time for y'all to see just how weird I am. You know, just in case yesterday's post and all of my posts, in general weren't enough of an indication. :) So, without further adieu, my pet peeves...

 

 

 

1. "I could care less".

Stop it! Stop saying this! We know what you mean, but you're saying it wrong. It should be "I COULDN'T care less". What you're trying to convey is that you don't care at all but when you say "I could care less" you imply that you care a lot. Please, for the love of all colloquialisms. Stop it.

 

2. You're.

If you are faced with the task of using the words you and are and you're not sure how to use them...just use both words, please. It is apparent that much of the English speaking world population doesn't understand the difference between a possesive your (your clothes, your job, etc.) and a contraction of you and are (you're funny, you're being ridiculous). When in doubt use both words. Please. Thank you.

 

3. Ugg boots and mini skirts.

This needs no explanation. It just needs to stop.

 

4. Loud talkers.

I am not a loud talker and you shouldn't be either unless you're at a sporting event or a club. Also, if you're a yankee and you live in the South you have no excuse. Assilimate already!

 

5. Too many carbs in meals.

Now, I love a carb. I haven't met many I don't like. However, it annoys me when certain restaurants...cough...Bojangles...cough...Zaxbys...serve fried chicken tenders, some sort of bread or biscuit and fries. Too many dry carby things. One must have a side of green beans or mac n cheese in order to have a balanced meal, right?

 

6. Too many sentence fillers.

I am so guilty of this but I don't notice it when I talk, of course. I loathe when people use filler words like "um", "like", "uh", etc. to fill spaces while they are talking. Just stop talking for a second and think about it then you won't need to use those fillers.

OH MY LORDY. Y'all this is hilar. I think I'm torn between the flamingo (of course!) and the whale. It's so funny!

And now that we've exercised our funny bones, let's move on to confessin', shall we?

//I confess that I ran for 20 min without stopping this week. While that doesn't seem like a lot for most people, it's quite a feat (punny!) for me. :)

//I confess that I'm not really a smoothie person. I mean, I don't HATE smoothies, but I'd rather just have a milkshake. But, milkshakes are bad. So, thus I'm left with no scratch for my frozen beverage itch. Sigh...

//I confess that I've been on WebMD way too much this week. There's nothing wrong with me, but I just have random urges to research stuff that happens to be on WebMD.

//I also confess that I'm probably the world's biggest hypochondriac, second only to my father. (hi dad!!) Hey, we wear our psychosomatic sicknesses with pride!

//I confess that I took about eleventy billion photos of my arm yesterday where I got my weekly allergy shot. The injection site normally swells a little each week but this week was pretty severe and it was red and hot and itchy. So, naturally, I took photos and used WebMD. Thankfully, I resisted the urge to instagram it. But I did succumb to sending photos to M and making my parents feel it. Wow, I'm a weirdo!

//I confess that this pin is hilar.

//The cleaning lady is coming today. So, I confess that I pre-cleaned just a little last night. I KNOW I'm not the only one who does that.

//I confess that I also pre-clean my car before I take it to Auto Bell. Shame...

//I confess that I had fettucine alfredo FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE this week. It was very good! I am inherently skeptical of white, wet foods, so it took me awhile to work up to eating it.

//I confess that as soon as I got my W-2s in January, I started doing my taxes online. When I realized that I owe money and wouldn't be getting a refund, I stopped doing them. Sigh. I guess I'll be doing that this weekend.

//I confess that my OCD got a little out of hand this week when I wrote (and rewrote twice) a message to my coworker on a Post It note because I wasn't satisfied with my handwriting.

//I confess that I will be camping overnight next Saturday and I'm kind of nervous. I'm not much of the outdoorsy type so it will be interesting. I figured I'd start with one night and maybe work my way up to a weekend camping trip. Fingers crossed!

Hello there! It's been a hot minute since I did a Confessional Friday post. [Okay, it's been like 4 weeks...so a little longer than a hot minute. Coincidentally, my last Confessional Friday post started with the same "hot minute" phrase as well. Apparently, this is a part of my middle school gangsta vocab that, unlike my southern accent, I cannot drop.]

First of all, can I get a Halleluyer 'cuz it's Friday?!?!

Moving on...

//1 I confess that I think TJ Maxx is slowly becoming another of those ridiculous blog sponsor epidemics. This makes me sad because I do like "The Maxx" and I don't want to have to boycott it like I did Gap Skimmers and Firmoo glasses when they invaded blogland.

//2 I confess that I feel slightly guilty for loving Easter so much when a lot of my Easter love is because of the influx of cute animals, pastels and candy. I, of course, recognize the true reason for Easter but I probably get way more excited for pastel M&Ms than I really should. #shameface

//3 I confess that I saw 3 people I know at Target yesterday and expertly avoided all of them. I can't...I just...I have this thing about seeing people out in public and small talk. It's always awkward with me.

//4 I confess that I think you're NEVER too old to receive an Easter basket. ;)

//5 I confess that I'm so anxious to start wearing dresses and skirts bare-legged (no tights) that I might just do so even before it's really properly warm enough outside.

//6 I confess that sometimes eating healthy upsets my stomach more than eating unhealthy. That's a bad sign, right? Taco Bell NEVER upsets my stomach. :)

//7 I confess that I just recently learned that there are different types of booties. (No, no the baby kind.) The rear-end, the caboose, the bum, the bootay. THAT thing. Did you know there are different types of them? The apple-bottom, the tear drop, the flat, etc. Blows my mind, really.

Hello lovelies.

It's been a hot minute since I've done a Confessional Friday post, so let's just get to gettin'!

//1. I confess that I probably trick myself into thinking that because I eat at Subway it's healthy. Meatball subs on wheat are kinda healthy, right?

//2. I confess that I cringed a little when I realized by boss scheduled an 8 am meeting for today (Friday). It's not that it's too early, because I'm usually at work before 8, but it means everyone else will be here and I like having some quiet solitude time at my desk before the masses arrive. :(

//3. I confess that after dealing with/worrying about a sick dog most of the week, it scares me as to how I might react if I ever have kids. Panic, much???

//4. I confess that I always find hilarious memes on Pinterest and then am afraid to post them on my blog because they contain cuss words. I mean, it's cussing for the sake of comedy...so it's okay...right?

//5. I confess that I discovered only this past week that the Grumpy Cat is REAL!! While not life-changing, this news is certainly awesome.

//6. I confess that I might have let my laundry sitch get a bit out of hand. That's okay, though...I'm splitting it up into 2 separate evenings. TMI??

//7. I confess that it makes me happy when I can introduce hilarious viral videos to my coworkers. I showed them the hair tutorial gone wrong video that was on my blog yesterday and they were dying. Like, couldn't catch their breath from laughing. It gives me some sort of satisfaction to know that I am doing my part to bring a little bit of laughter to the work day.

So, how about we get right to it, shall we?

//1. I confess that I was more-than-slightly-excited when I saw these beauties popping up in the yard. These are my favorite flower. They are so cheery and bright. PERFECT for a dreary January.

//2. I confess that I wore a color combination this week that totally reminded me of my middle school. Our colors were blue and orange and our mascot was the Wapitis. (Yeah, how many of you know what a Wapiti is pre-Googling?) It's a kind of elk thing. Or a moose thing. Something like that.

//3. I confess that my sinus-y, allergy-like symptoms just might be the result of this...

Folks the first (cold) picture was taken on 1/25. The bottom one (warm) was taken FOUR DAYS LATER on 1/29. Shake my head.

//4. I confess that sometimes being a good multi-tasker has its down side. Like, when I'm typing an email, sending a text and simultaneously talking to a coworker...and get my wires crossed. Then I type in an email what I meant to send in a text and verbally speak my text to my coworker. Shake my head.

//5. I confess that I think I'm a pretty funny person naturally. However, I do believe my humor is escalated whenever I take Benadryl. Perhaps it is sort of like delirium...?

//6. I confess that it slightly bothers me that the first 3 confessions had photos and the last ones don't. But, it doesn't bother me enough to change up the order of the confessions. Heh.

//7. I confess that I go to bed FREEZING! Like, with multiple layers of clothing. Then, randomly, in the middle of the night, I wake BURNING UP! Why such body temp extremes? I'm so strange...

It is time for another edition of Confessional Friday. Yes, it's that time of week where I confess some of deepest, darkest secrets from this past week. I'm linking up my confessions with Leslie at A Blonde Ambition Blog.

//1. I confess I wore one of my absolute favorite outfits TO DATE this week. I documented via Instagram, but think it's probably worthy enough for a full-fledged outfit post. Gah, I heart mustard and navy.

//2. I confess that all week I've teetered along the line of self-medicating with cupcakes. New software + new email platform + launching the same day + boss coming back from maternity leave = Quite a stressful week. Cupcakes just make me happy. Cupcakes solve all problems. Okay, maybe not ALL problems. But most.

//3. I confess that I literally have 7 pillows in my bed. For one person. To me, this isn't strange, but I feel like it is not normal. Thoughts?

//4. I confess I wore the same pants to work back-to-back. In my defense they were black pants and I did style them differently so hopefully no one noticed. ;)

//5. I confess that I am now the brand SPANKING new owner of a pair of TOMS shoes. Yep, yep. Mr. First Date (who subsequently has turned into Mr. Second Date and maybe Mr. Third Date) gifted me with a fabulous pair of TOMS for my b-day. Well, an e-giftcard for a pair of TOMS. I received them in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to wear them.

//6. I confess I toyed around with wearing my new shoes to work today but realized that with the local forecast calling for snow and a wintry mix, I should probably wait to break them in.

//7. I confess that so far, 28 has been a great year! Yes, I'm only a week into it, but this week has been a good 'un. Maybe everyone WAS right that life gets better with age...

//1. I confess that I've had a craving for cupcakes for about a week. It all started when I saw this blog post. I have no idea how I came across it, but glory-BE I've been craving a chocolate cupcake since then.

//2. I confess that I might be slightly addicted to the Candy Crush Saga game on my phone. I don't know how I stumbled across it...but now I CAN'T STOP PLAYING IT! When did I become a "gamer"?

//3. I confess I've been taking the magic NyQuil ride almost every night this week. To be fair, I am getting over a nasty virus/upper respiratory issues...so, it's okay, right?

//4. I confess that it's a bit weird that the girl at my local Jersey Mike's knows my name and how I like my sandwich. I mean, I'm glad she does, of course. But I honestly probably go in there MAYBE once every 2 months? Is that weird or am I just paranoid?

-Granted my sandwiches are really easy: ham, provolone, mayo. No vegetables. No nastiness. Thanks.-

//5. I confess that I'm considering purchasing a pair of TOMS shoes to wear with my more casual winter outfits. There are a few things holding me back... 1. I'm 27 and not 19. 2. I'm 27 and not 19. 3. They are kind of ugly...but not OOGLY. So, they aren't ugly enough not to wear, but not especially attractive.

Do you see my predicament?

But, I am considering these...because they are wool/fleece and will keep my tootsies toasty.

Care to weigh in? Are TOMS too young for me? Be honest, people. My fashion reputation is on the line!

// 1. I confess that I'm just a wee bit peeved that on the very first time I ever participate in a blog swap, I GOT BURNED! As in...I got a whole lotta nurfin. Yep. My Secret Santa must have forgot. Or either something happened to them and they were incapacitated. That would be bad...and forgiveable. Signing up for a Christmas blog swap and then not participating tends to lean more towards the unforgiveable side.

To be honest, I was kind of bummed about it. Then I realized that I was bummed just because I didn't get a gift from someone and that's rather shallow. So, I went to one of my favorite websites and laughed myself into oblivion.

Much better.

// 2. I confess that I was slightly excited when someone told me that they couldn't tell I had my weave in. It made me a little giddy. I can't wait to get more to add to it! :)

// 3. I confess I'm surprised some people still have auto-play music on their blogs or tumblr pages. It makes blog snooping at work A LOT more difficult.

// 4. I confess that though I don't really care for her music so much (or any country music for that matter), TSwifty is just about the most precious thing ever. I love her in this Christmas ad.

It's Friday. It's the weekend. Let's just get right to confessin', shall we?

//1. I confess that I resorted back to my self (bottle) tanning ways for a brief period of time in order to prepare for my company's holiday party. I did it habitually over the summer, but decided that the winter white trend could continue on to my skin this season.

So, my coworkers have to smell my fake tan for another day or so. I feel for them. Really.

//2. I confess that I'm leaving work early today in order to prepare for the party (which is tonight). To go straight from work would be sacrilegious. A girl needs time to do the hair, nails, makeup, etc....and we cannot be rushed!

//3. I confess that I purposefully did not watch The Office live last night because I want to watch it over the weekend. I need time to process the fact that this is the very last Christmas episode of The Office, ever. I am NOT okay with that.

//4. I confess that I only slept 2 hours on Wednesday night. We can chalk that up to the following issues:
a) my sister's violent stomach bug, b) the fact that the bathroom shares a wall with my bedroom, c) massive anxiety and d) a good book. I really call that the perfect storm.

//5. I confess I'm done with my Christmas shopping. Wait, I guess that's not really a confession. It's more of a humblebrag. Yup. But it's just so I can enjoy this in the evenings instead of rushing around like a mad woman at the mall.

//1. I confess that this adorable creature has been consuming most of my free time this week. I mean...how can I resist this face? Especially when he brings me his "babies" to play.

//2. I confess that I'm kind of freaking out about what I'm going to wear to my company's Christmas cocktail party. I don't want to wear a cardigan (shocking, I know) because I wear cardigans all the time. I want to wear something different. I'm thinking lace. But I really don't know.

//3. I confess that when I started allergy shots this week, I was probably the oldest person in the shot waiting room. Yes, my friends, it was my 20-something self and various children aged 3 to 12. I occupied my time by reading the latest Highlights magazine.

//4. I confess that I changed the lock screen on my phone...to this picture.

To start with a follow-up to yesterday's post...I'm officially over 200 followers!! It's so exciting! To celebrate this accomplishment, I will give you (the readers) an extended version of my normal Confessional Friday post.

I know y'all are just on the edge of your seats with anticipation, right? Heh.

//1. I confess that I ate a sweet potato almost every night this week. I'm kind of obsessed with them now. I can't get enough sweet potato.

//2. I confess that I'm a little afraid that I will start to have an orange tinge to my skin if I keep eating sweet potatoes and carrots. This might have had something to do with my fear.

//3. I confess that almost every time I wear my hair up/back, I wear my little faux weavelet to make my ponytail look thicker. (It's a clip-in weft of human hair that I made with the assistance of my sis.)

//4. Speaking of hair, I'm thinking about going close-to-platinum again. With my wintery-pale skin, I kind of want that winter white look. I'm sort of obsessed with this look right now. Here are some ladies who have pulled off the white hair/white skin look well.

//5. I confess that over the last week, my cell phone cover has garnered quite a bit of attention from strangers.

//6. I confess that I've found a ton of new and awesome blogs lately. You can see my blog reading list by clicking here.

//7. I confess that I'm REALLY into these shoes. I kind of need to buy them.

//8. I confess that when I counted my cardigans this week, I may or may not have arrived at a number greater than 20. [hangs head with shame]

//9. I confess that I'm SUPER excited to be spending Thanksgiving with my sister at her place in Charleston, SC. It's such a BEEYOUTEEFUL city and I have the day after T-giving off work, so I'll get to have some time to hang and chill. I can't wait!

//10. I confess that my clean eating kick may have to take a 1 day hiatus on said holiday. 

//11. I confess that I just started watching Ice Loves Coco and I LOVE IT! Honestly, out of all the celeb couple reality shows, I think they seem the most normal and down-to-earth.

Happy Friday, y'all! After work today, I'm headed out to beautiful Boone for a little weekend girls getaway. Well, mostly girls. Hewitt will be there and he's partly a boy...because you know...he's neutered. Anywho...

I had all sorts of debaucles and hootenannies going on this week...and I was able to document some of them via Instagram. The others I'll just have to confess.

//1. I confess that my dog is one of the cutest dogs on The Internets. Sorry y'all. He just is. I also confess that I came up with a hashtag for when I put photos of him on Instagram. #hewstagram

#Imaloser ... but here he is doing his two favorite jobs: keeping fresh laundry warm and neighborhood watch duty.

//2. I confess that I knowingly bought more Halloween candy than I needed this year. [laughs diabolically]

//3. I confess that almost every afternoon this week I've taken photos of the fall leaves with my phone. I can't help it. I'm obsessed.

//4. I confess that I'm also guilty of taking photos of the morning sunrise...

...while driving to work.

But I'm usually stopped at a light or in traffic. So, safely. ;) I took this one on Wednesday.

And then some annoying spammer said I stole his photo from FB to try and get me to download this lame app. Um, no, B, this is MY PHOTO.

//5. I confess that while writing this my laptop battery died. Like DIED and I got an error message saying I needed to replace it because my battery has permanently failed. But my laptop still works if it's plugged in.

I'm NOT ready to replace Dorothy right now. Dorothy has only been a part of my electronic family for 2.5 years. Way too soon to replace her, right? Sigh.

Well, I'm not going to let this minor detail get in the way of my weekend. I'm ready to do some hiking, movie watching, shopping and food consuming. I hope y'all enjoy YOUR weekends as well!
