My husband and I have started having new car talks. You see my car is 9 years old and my husband's is 11. What will probably end up happening is that he gets rid of his truck and takes my car for a while since it's new and has fewer miles. But this means I need to look for another car. And I'm totally stuck on what type of car I should get. I'm not one of those people that has the same type of car. In fact my history of car ownership is quite varied...
1995 Ford Escort Station Wagon
This was my first car. While I thought it unfair that I had to navigate high school in a wagon, it got me to where I needed to go and fit a lot of my friends in it. :)
2000 Volkswagen Beetle
I loved this little car. It was cute and zippy and had lots of personality. The only problem is it was a lemon. It kept stranding me, would break down a lot, and had a ton of problems. I also hated just having 2 doors when I was trying to haul people around. And the hubcaps would pop off at the most inopportune times.
2007 Jeep Patriot Limited
This is my current car. Her name is Patty. I love her. She is large and roomy but not a tank. She gets great gas mileage (for a small SUV) and is kinda of sporty and cute. I love that she is boxy. (I love boxy cars!) She has enough room for my 6'5" husband to sit comfortably and even drive comfortably.
So you see my car history isn't very consistent. I've had wagons, sporty 2-doors and an SUV. This really came to a head yesterday when a coworker dropped me off at my car and was shocked at the car I own. She said, "I would never, in a million years, picture you in a Jeep. I thought you'd be in something cute and little."
That's not the first time someone has said that to me regarding Patty. Apparently, she's not the type of car someone with my personality would seem to drive. So now, as I look at new cars, I'm not sure what type of car best fits my personality? Is it another SUV? Something small and zippy? A sedan? (I've never owned a sedan) I'm truly at a loss. How do I find a car that "suits me"? Is that even a thing or does it all come down to price and meeting my needs?
I'd love some help here. If you could see me in any car (with what you know about me or don't know about me) what would it be? Or what type of car? I'm truly at a loss as to which direction to go?

I see you in a bright blue car. I don't know why. I'm not a car person so I couldn't give you a make or model. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am in the market for a small SUV next time. I need more room to haul.
I could see you in like a sporty Ford Escape or Edge if you want something bigger.
ReplyDeleteI guess I see you in something small and zippy, but I've gotten so used to you driving Patty that I can see you in an SUV too. Seems like being in an SUV now, it would be hard to go down to a small car from there.
