clean eating, followers and The Drew

I should warn you that this blog post is a bit random. So, y'all just need to put on your BGP (Big Girl Panties) and let's get to it!

This week I am trying clean eating. What is clean eating? Well, the definition is a bit different from person to person, but the idea is the same: eating foods as close to their natural state as possible. The key is trying to avoid any additives like sugar, flavorings, dyes, etc. Anything straight off the vine, tree, bush or plant is ideal. Of course, other foods in their natural states are also usually considered "clean" like eggs, organic or grass-fed lean meats and whole grains. Ideally, clean eating also involves avoiding "white" foods like white rice, white potatoes, white sugar and white bread. Anything processed isn't good. Also, you want to try and eat things that have less than 5-6 ingredients.

Why am I eating clean? Well, I just came to realization of how much crap I'm eating. Not even necessarily unhealthy food, but food full of preservatives and bad stuff. Even my daily Weight Watchers meals were full of unhealthy sodium, sugar and additives. I'd heard of clean eating before and after some research, I figured I'd try it for a week.

And I should say that I'm now in day 4. I haven't noticed a HUGE difference but, again, I'm only 4 days in. I think that I will definitely be able to tell a difference in the way I feel after a week. I'm also taking it fairly slowly. I'm actually eating vegetables. Like, green ones. And liking them.

Hold your horses, people. It's HAPPENING! Also, I might even venture in the land of salads. WHAT?! Crazy, I know.

But I'm still drinking my daily Diet Dr. Pepper.

Baby steps, people.

On a more serious note, I'm humbled that so many people enjoy reading my blog. It makes me smile inside and do a happy dance whenever I see a new follower.

  1. I've been doing the clean eating adventure for a while now and I can seriously tell a huge difference! The key to shopping for it is to only shop on the outside square of the store...produce, meat, dairy, etc. Generally speaking everything on the inner isles is no bueno!
