I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I am so excited to start using it. However, the more I think about it, the more overwhelmed I become. Assembling it and learning how to use it is a huge goal in and of itself, but because of my perfectionist nature, I'm afraid to try sewing the first thing because I know that usually the first thing you make is a disaster. :( I got some fabric for Christmas as well that's inexpensive, so I'm okay if I mess up with it, but it's still a failure.
Any suggestions as to what to try first?
I'm thinking something like this...

I think that is a big project to start with... but it does seem simple enough. Good luck to you! Hopefully soon enough you will be making all kinds of cute things! And then maybe you could sell them on Etsy!
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew anything about sewing, so I could help you, but I do not. I say, just start on anything, cause otherwise you may never start.
ReplyDeleteOne of my New Years resolutions is to learn to sew, too! My friend Betsy is going to lend me a spare sewing machine and give both me and Sadie lessons. I don't suffer from perfectionism (I suffer from procrastination - not getting started because I'm on Facebook or reading countless blogs :P) but Sadie does (well, actually, she just can't understand why she can't start out everything as a rockstar) and Jermaine does too (actually, I've heard this exact concern come from his mouth about countless undertakings (maybe that's why he loves you so much)).
ReplyDeleteHeh, I guess I don't have much advice, but I'm excited we'll be learning at the same time! Good luck - I have a feeling you're going to be amazing!
Love, Brandy
