inspiration workshop: organization

For today's post, I'm linking up with the Inspiration Workshop over on Gussy Sews. The prompt this week is ORGANIZATION, and one that is near and dear to my li'l heart.

I have a slight obsession with organizing things. Or, more specifically, organizing things by color. It may not make the most sense, but boy it sure is pretty to look at!

L-R: My bookcase, scarves and necklaces, all organized by color. Have I gotten to the point of being sick? Nah, consider it an obsession with aesthetics. My favorite way to organize is first by color, then by type and size. My closet is the only exception, it's organized by type first and then color. All my cardigans, in ROY G BIV order. HAHA. It is visual harmony.

I know you're expecting a photo of my closet. Well, my closet is teeny tiny and just way too crammed to even really merit good photos. You'll just have to trust me. :)

But, I do look forward to the day that I have a wonderfully large closet. Maybe, something like these...

I might need a bit of a larger shoe rack though. Wanna join in on these Inspiration Workshops? Visit Gussy Sews to learn more.

  1. I organize my closet by color too! Live the way you hung your scarves. I may borrow that idea!

  2. I want to organize my books by color, but then books of differing heights will be next to each other! Ahhhhh! Not sure I could handle that. Even when the kitchen sink is overflowing with dirty dishes...I would still be thinking about the uneven books. ;-)

  3. My books are organized alphabetical by author (fiction) or by subject (non-fiction), like at the library (my favorite place besides home). My kids books are organized by size (more practical since they're just going to be pulled down and replaced every single day). I do organize my closet by clothing type and then by color. I think clothes are the only thing I organize by color.
Rejoicing at Home in the link-up recommends Organizing From the Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern. I second that! It is a fantastic book.
