the case of the chronic Pinners

Can I be honest for a minute?

As much as I lurve Pinterest, I think I may be getting to the point that I got to with Facebook about a year ago.

I realized that on Facebook I was friends with a lot of people that I really didn't know too well, knew in high school and didn't keep up with or that were one time acquaintances. I don't really need all these people in my news feed...so I purged my friends list.

I think I'm going to have to do that with some Pinners I follow. Now, there is nothing I love more than logging on to Pinterest and seeing new pins in my feed to look at...but when most of them are random or absolutely nothing that I'm interested in, it's annoying.

Especially if there are a few dozen of them every day.

For example, I have a friend who pins vintage CIRCUS PHOTOS. Like photos of circus freaks and such.

That sort of mess scares the poop out of me. I've always hated that old circus theme (with the bearded lady and the giants and siamese twins, etc). I don't quite know why but it freaks. me. out.

Also, this music video scared me when I was younger and it still gives me the heeby jeebies.

So imagine my chagrin when I logged into Pinterest last night to see pins of CIRCUS FREAKS. Like, a whole board dedicated to them. There was even a pin of this man who lost both arms in the Civil War and made his own prosthetic "arms" that were like the horrors of  Edward Scissorhands and Captain Hook combined. This is the stuff of [my] nightmares.

Don't believe me? Have a look...

It was only right as I was writing this that I realized you can follow certain boards of people without having to follow all of their boards.

Duh! Those Pinterest people are really smart. They must have known there'd be chronic Pinners. Just as real life hoarders exist, so do electronic "Pinhoarders".

Do any of you have issues with "chronic Pinners" on Pinterest? Are you a chronic Pinner? ;) Please don't take offense if any of you have circus freak boards that I unfollow. There is only so much I can take...

Shudder.

  1. Luckily I haven't had any circus freaks pop up. But, I do follow WAY too many teachers. My feed is full of new classroom ideas and math problems. Ugh...

    1. I apologize if that is me! I always hope my non school friends will unfollow my school board. I even made a second account to have JUST school stuff on - but it was too much of a hassle to switch back and forth.

  5. I admit to being a "pinaholic" but definitely am thankful for those Pinterest people for allowing us to only follow certain boards. Your post is too funny. I can totally relate.

  7. Ohhh...purging my FB friends list sounds like a great idea to me. I actually have 2 accounts. One for personal use and one for my blog. Funny thing is, I hardly ever use my personal account anymore-I'm thinking that I may just delete it all together!
