Shoe Trends I Avoid

I don't know why, but sometimes fashion trends, especially shoe trends just annoy me. I honestly think that a lot of shoe trends now remind me too much of things I wore when I was a child, so that's why I loathe them. Other trends, to me, are just ugly.

What are these trends, you may ask? Well, let me share them with you.

Clockwise from top left:

Woven, brown anything.
I just can't. It reminds me too much of these. I think we should all just let the brown woven sandals of yesteryear go silently away.

Flat platform sandals
The Spice Girls really made these popular. And then the Spice Girls matured into adults and dropped the trend. Somehow, it's stuck around and become popular again.

Platform flip-flops
Yes, I had a pair of these in the early 2000s, and I wore the heck outta them. However, now is the time to stop wearing them. And if you have white ones...I...there are no words.

Fashion sneakers
First off, I hate the word sneakers. It's weird. Anywho, athletic shoes are athletic shoes and shouldn't be fashion staples. Wearing these with jeans or...gasp...dresses it's just not my thing AT ALL.

Oxfords
This is another one that reminds me of my childhood. Specifically these. I just dislike this trend and am surprised at how long it's stuck around.

Thick strap flat sandals (these also sort of go with the first trend)
I know, I'm a hater. But these also remind me of my childhood. These two-strap sandals and the saltwater-style sandals are the bane of my existence. Not only do they make most feet look kinda clunky but they aren't cute. Why are we wearing them still?

The sad part is that all of my pictures are taken from fashion retailers' CURRENT SHOE LINES. Do a simple search for "Saltwater sandals" on google and you'll find modern retailers that carry this style. (modcloth, for example). Target actually still sells those platform flip flops and they've probably been selling them since 2002. Now, I understand that trends come and go, but are these all really still popular? Enlighten me, because I keep seeing these everywhere!
