I like to think of my house as lots of happy, little vignettes that sort of all mesh together into one large happy home. I love how The Nester displays things she loves in beautiful vignettes, so I stole some of my inspiration from her.
But I also think about my room and household like "snapshots". For example, my bed isn't a vignette because it's fairly large, but when I look at it, I get a snapshot in my mind that just makes me happy.
Does any of this make sense or do I sound like a new-age hippie?

Most of my vignettes contain color because, well, color makes me happy. Do you have any happy little vignettes in your house?
