fashion friday: disney's pink dress

I decided to combine today's Fashion Friday post with my popular Disney Fashion posts. This time I stuck with the common theme of a pink dress that goes through many of the Disney princess movie plots. In Cinderella, Cinderella dons a pink dress (that her animal friends helped her make) when she makes her first attempt to go to the ball. It later gets torn by her step-sisters. In Sleeping Beauty, Aurora is often seen in a pink frock and in The Little Mermaid, Ariel wears a ballet-pink gown when she attends dinner with Prince Eric. (Remember...the fork...I mean, dinglehopper??)

Like the other posts I've done, I'll show a picture of the princess and then a modern outfit that she might wear that's reminiscent of the original.

Here's Cinderella in her pink dress a la Disney.

And here's the modern Cinderella pink dress. Let me just say that I was going for a subtle hint of bows...unlike Disney's version!

Next up is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Here she is in all her Disney-esque glory.

And here is the modern Aurora's pink dress.

And finally we have Ariel. (my favorite)

And her modern day adornment might look like this.

Oh, this makes me want to go out and get a pink dress now.

  1. I love your Disney Fashion posts. So much fun! All the dresses you chose are great but the accessories are fantastic! Where did you find the crab necklace? It's adorable.

  3. I've looked at the blog that inspired your Disney posts and I much prefer yours (mostly because your accessories are so spot on). Have you considered moving away from the princesses and maybe doing some villainesses? I would love to see your take on Cruella De Vil!

  7. I love the clutch purse for Princess Aurora, where is that from?

The big question. Does the Dinglehopper fit in the purse?

  8. BatGirl,
I'm sure the Dinglehopper would fit into the purse...I just made it larger for the picture. :)

The clutch purse from Aurora's look is from Diane Von Furstenburg.
