purty bakin'

Let me apologize in advance to any readers who may be on a diet. You may not want to continue reading this post. For the rest of you, be forewarned that reading this post may make you hungry...

How often do I agree to or get asked to "bake something" for a church event, a family get-together, a baby or wedding shower or a special dinner? Well, pretty often. I have a few stand-by recipes that I use and I kind of do a rotation with them. But after awhile, I get tired of baking them and I'm sure that the few crossover friends who might make it to more than one of these events, gets tired of seeing and eating the same thing.

I'm always up for a new baking (dessert) recipe or...even better...a pretty presentation idea for an old recipe. You know the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", right? Well, what about "If it ain't broke, don't fix it...just paint it a purty color." That can apply to baking, for sure.

You can make chocolate chip cookies, but can you make them like this?

And you can make a simple layer cake, but can you make it like these?

Or, you can easily do some brownies. But what about some with pizazz??

A new recipe that I've recently become obsessed with is cakeballs. While I've not attempted them yet, I've done lots of research on them and found a ton of pretty cakeball/cakepop pictures. Like this one...

I might be trying those soon. Mine probably won't look this pretty, but I bet they'll taste good. Have any of you tried any of these before? They all look pretty delish!

  1. Wowzers. The cookies with the oreo center are genius!
We made cake balls for my birthday last year and it was way more difficult than I expected, and we didn't even try to make them pretty! I was glad my parents were there, because they took over making them when I was getting frustrated.

  2. I want to make cakeballs too but yeah... it seems like a lot of work. Maybe we could make some together someday.

Also, I LOVE THE RAINBOW CAKE. So amazing!
