We had some interesting obstacles when it came to finding a place to live, but everything seemed to work out in our favor with this new place. The first obstacle was location. Well, this wasn't really an obstacle, but it certainly narrowed down our choices quite a bit. You see, M works in a different city and state than I. (It's not quite as far as it sounds since Charlotte is on the NC/SC border.) But I work in Charlotte, NC and he works in SC. So, we wanted to find somewhere that was about halfway between his work and my work. And since Charlotte is a large city, we couldn't just find anywhere in Charlotte, we needed to be in a certain geographical portion (SE) Charlotte.
So we set our sights on a tiny little area called Indian Land (Fort Mill) SC and it needed to be off or around a pretty major state highway that we both would use to get to work. Luckily, there are a lot of rental properties in this area so we did have a couple to choose from.
We also wanted to have at least 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. (the .5 baths being a half bath preferably downstairs for company) Since neither of us owned a washer and dryer, a place that had them already was pretty high on our list of wants as well.
We looked at a total of 3 places, and settled on one. We looked at 2 townhomes that were almost identical floor plans, with one having hard wood (laminate) floors downstairs and the other having carpet. As shocking as it might be, we actually preferred the carpet to the hard wood floors for a number of reasons. I know hard wood is much more fancy, but I just like carpet better. I know...I'm ridiculous. :)
We ultimately decided on the townhome that met all of our must-haves and hurriedly scooped it up. :) As I said earlier, M moved in last weekend and I will be helping unpack and organize until I move in after our wedding. Of course, I'll probably be moving my stuff in little by little so I don't have to do it all after we return from our honeymoon. :)
Here are a couple of photos of it. They aren't THAT great, but it gives you an idea. I will be sure to take some progress photos once we get it fixed up a little.
The main living room area.
There's a bay window on the other side of the living room! (And one in the master bedroom too.)
The kitchen. I love the island! It also has a bar top on one side so we can add bar stools later.
The master bath has 2 sinks. :) :)
These are photos from the real estate listing...I'll have better ones later. But among the other great things about this townhome are: walk-in closets in every bedroom, bay windows, linen closets in every bathroom, washer and dryer included, outdoor storage space, patio, huge kitchen pantry and under the stairs storage area.
Congrats on finding a place!!
ReplyDeleteso cute. can't wait to see you spruce it all up.
ReplyDeleteand i love carpet too :)
Congratulations! It looks great especially the bay window. Lovely light.
ReplyDeleteI vote for moving as much as you can in so that's not hanging over your head on your honeymoon!
Two sinks is the only way to go. Boys always have gross sinks.
ReplyDeleteWhen the wedding fun dies down, fixing up the town home will be a great new blogging topic!
